The Private Lives of Teddies

Have you ever wondered what your teddies are getting up to when you’re not in the room? The answer may be naughtier — and funnier — than you think. Meet a house full of teddies trying to do their own thing without the humans noticing… which means solving crime, getting chocolate by any means necessary, even acquiring secret identities…

Suitable for children aged 5 and up, or 7 and up for independent reading.

Bum and Freda !

The second book in the Private Lives of Teddies series shows that the animals haven’t made any progress in brains or good behaviour. This time they are unmasking a witch, going to the moon, stealing the mince pies… and (we are sorry to say) going to rather unnecessary lengths to find what all those rude noises coming from the bathroom are.

Bum and Freda! is suitable for children aged 5 and up, or 7 and up for independent reading.

One of the teddies has written a bonus story to be read after you have finished Bum and Freda! You can read it here.

Six Stories for Children

Six original Arabic tales with an authentically Middle-Eastern flavour, written in the first half of the twentieth century, reset in a modern Arabic typeface with a new facing translation in English conveying all the elegance and interest of the originals.

This book tells stories of magical silver fish, a mischievous djinn taking a bus ride, two mice trying to put one over on their arch-enemy the cat, and much more besides. The book is sumptuously illustrated throughout by new South African illustrator Jetzke van Heerden.

Each translation features translators’ notes with additional comments on the original text for learners of Modern Standard Arabic.
